Glad to be back...

I'm back from my trip to Florida and although I had a great time, I am tired and tuckered out. Whew-wee, ya'll. That is one long damn road trip. I swear I never realized Alabama was such a long state! When I wasn't helping my sister decorate her new condo, I was playing mermaid in the swimming pool. :P

The good news for all is that I managed to find some cute stuff for the MMC Paranormal Trick or Treat grab bags this October, so you'll want to enter all the contests next month for your chance at some way cool prizes. :D I also plan to have a few contests over at my own blog, so watch there as well. :)

I got to catch up with some of my old pals in Navarre Beach, Panama City Beach, Destin, and Tallahassee! ::waves::

The shark feeding place was closed when we got there, but it still made for a cool picture, don't you think? :)

More later, but now I have to finish unpacking.

Until next time,
Cass

Featured Book: Ghost of a Chance by Elizabeth Eagan-Cox

Author Elizabeth Eagan-Cox writes cozy paranormal mysteries that are entertaining and suitable for all ages.

A Ghost of a Chance is the first book in her Shannon Delaney mystery series. Check it out!

About A Ghost of a Chance:

Shannon Delaney has no idea that her temporary home, the Victorian-era Blackthorne House is a portal to a century-old mystery. On her first night a ghostly encounter entangles her in the spectral mission of the mansion’s original owner-Eric Blackthorne, master magician.

Complicating matters is Alex Blackthorne, handsome and charming descendent of the ghost. Also, there’s Zach Zavala, who has guy-next-door good looks and a straightforward manner. Plus, Zach’s grandfather Francisco is a retired detective and a kindred spirit who appreciates Shannon’s apprehension about her paranormal experiences.

Things-that-go-bump-in-the-night clues haunt Shannon’s sleep. By daylight eerie occurrences make it crystal clear what path Shannon must take. After solving the Blackthorne House mystery, Shannon is left with the biggest question of all… What about Alex and Zach, must she choose between them?

genre: paranormal mystery/cozy
suitable for teens and up

A Ghost From the Shadows

Talented publicity writer Shannon Delaney rebounds from a failed romance and takes refuge in an assignment at 1920's-era Magic Manor Dinner Theater on California's Catalina Island, Avalon resort. Assured of quiet surroundings as the only lodger at the renovation-in-process Magic Manor, Shannon soon discovers she is not alone!

Portentous events, haunting clues and spectral visitations draw Shannon into separate, yet interwoven, mysteries: The hunt for nineteenth-century pirate treasure, and a decade-old tragic death that reeks of dark intentions.

Avalon, fabled as Hollywood's getaway, is ideal as A Ghost From the Shadows location and for Shannon's continuing adventures as she builds her career and strengthens her intuitive powers to speak to the past.

Returning characters include: Alex Blackthorne, Aunt Dora, Francisco Zavala, Zach Zavala and Shannon's personal spirit guide: Eric Blackthorne, master magician from the 1800s.

A Ghost Meets an Angel

Gavin turned to me and queried, "This isn't the first time you've seen ghosts, is it?" ...And so begins Shannon Delaney's assignment to write publicity for the Spotted Coyote. As the right spot for Grub, Spirits and Conjuring, it's an entertainment venue that's a re-invention of an Old-West Saloon in California's historic mountain town of Julian.

The Spotted Coyote is more than what Shannon bargained for when she discovers the century-old murder of little Sarah Morghan. Sarah's ghost will not be denied, leaving Shannon no choice but to pursue haunting clues that pair jumping rope rhymes with rare books, treasure lore with a ghostly angel and an uncanny connection to the Scottish paranormal author, Robert Louis Stevenson.

Assisting Shannon is Alex Blackthorne and Shannon's very own spectral guide; phantom magician from the 1800s, Eric Blackthorne.

Cora's September Picks - Fun Fabulous Non-Fiction

The Illustrated Dream Dictionary by Russell Grant and Vicky Emptage

One of my favorite dream dictionaries of all time, this paperback book is filled with gorgeous artwork by Vicky Emptage. The categories for dream symbols are organized alphabetically and by category, and offer various interpretations on common symbols.

Everyday Witch A to Z Spellbook : Wonderfully Witchy Blessings, Charms & Spells by Deborah Blake

This is such a cool little book! I'm not usually impressed with spell books, but this one is a simple and fun little guide to practical magic use in the home. I highly recommend it.

Everyday Witch A to Z Spellbook is easy to use. The spells are alphabetically arranged and give thorough instructions regarding not only the supplies required, but how you should handle objects during the spell. It's a paperback with approximately 237 pages of spells, plus there's a handy dandy supply list, and an additional "spell cross reference section" in the back. There's even a spell for Writing Success. This one is a keeper.

Wish Upon A Star Cosmic Fortune Telling Kit by Monte Farber and Amy Zerner

I've been using this kit on and off for several years now, and it's still one of my favorites for simple fortune telling. The kit includes a basic interpretation book, and a soft purple bag with resin stars. Each star has a number, 1-22.

The querent asks a simple question or makes a wish,  and draws a star from the bag. Each star relates to an interpretation number in the book.

This is a nice kit. I've given several of these away for gifts, and I own one myself. I've used the Wish Upon a Star kit many times for public readings, and general use - those times when friends call with a burning question. ;0) It's also a kit perfectly suitable for teens ready to dabble in fortune telling fun. I could see this being a big hit at slumber parties.

Book two of the American Satyrs drops tomorrow!

Coming September 13th (thats tomorrow kiddos!)Book two in the American Satyr Series by Stella and Audra Price, To Collar and Keep!

A surrender to the unknown has never been sexier.

Olanis, the summer holiday is upon the Satyr clans once more and it is the time for Harlequin, prince of the Rummer clan, to claim his first and only female, the Grecian Satyr princess Arabella, sight unseen.
Unsure of what kind of woman his clan had brokered for him, he is both interested in the woman that would wear his collar, and nervous that she won’t meet his standards. His female has to rival him in all things, and his hopes of that coming true are slim and none.

Arabella craves two things, finishing her education, and being claimed by her Satyr. An anomaly in the Satyr world, Arabella was afforded opportunities other princesses weren’t. Now, in a foreign land she is given over to the Prince she was promised to, and she couldn’t be more nervous. What's a girl to do when you’re being gifted to a man you have never seen?

Harley is a commodity to the Rummer clan, one that his father plans to exploit regardless of his son’s wishes. When he gives Harley an ultimatum, Harley and Bella have two choices-agree to the terms or rebel.
When sparks fly and new alliances are forged in the Satyr ranks, both Harley and Bella have to decide what it is they want and what kind of future they wish to have. Only together will they succeed, if they can suffer the slings and arrows.

WARNING:This book contains a Satyr prince with unconventional ideas about his princess, a princess with a mind to rival Hawkings, a feral Satyr with a hidden agenda, F/F scenes, polyamory and lots of hot sex.

Naughty Sexy Satyrs! And theres a Contest too! Wanna a Satyr goodie pack? Check Stella and Audra’s bloggy for details!

Must reads to prepare you for the coming apocalypse!

Nekropolis

This book has everything from zombie cowboys to witchy weather girls. Oh, and one kick ass paranormal investigator.

I am eagerly anticipating this book. It's available for pre-order on Amazon

Some people might say this is the definitive guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse.

I say it's definitely one for the keeper shelf!

The Art of Zombie Warfare: How to Kick Ass Like the Walking Undead
by Scott Kenemore

Don't go into battle ill prepared!  Learn how to kill zombies...like a zombie. Like they say, when in Rome...

If you can't bring yourself to slaughter the undead in the traditional sense, perhaps this is a more passive approach you can take. Check out The Zen of Zombie.

Do you have any favorite zombie theme books to add to the stockpile?  Share any in the comments below. Knowledge is power. And remember...the more we know, the better our chances of survival.
