New Year resolutions blues
Thank goodness 2008 is over! Good-bye and good riddance! I swear it didn't go fast enough. Can you tell you I had a sucky year? *lol* Well, I'm not going to bore you all enumerating all the reasons why 2008 sucked for me. Enough is to say that with my health problems and my computer being "dead" (and with no hope of saving it) has been more than enough to make 2008 the worst year ever. (And here I thought 2007 sucked. HA!) I know now I should be looking at 2009 with optimism. Well, I spent the first day of the year sick with terrible abdominal pains, and at one point during the early morning hours I thought of calling 911 and had them take me to the ER. *sighs* Not exactly a promising way to begin the year, right? Sure, it was just the first day. I still have 364 days left of it so things are bound to get better. So keeping that in mind (and my fingers crossed!), last night after drinking a sour-tasting chamomile tea for my still-upset stomach, I sat to think about what I want for the new year. Sure, I quickly came up with a list of ...well... the usual thingies. You know, a hot hunk in bed, shoes, clothes, a hot hunk in bed, a new computer, ... did I mention a hot hunk in bed? Oops, seems like I did. Twice. Good for a threesome. Hehehe! Anyway, I realized that I had stopped setting up goals. I remember a time when I used to pin a list of resolutions next to the calendar and cross them out as I accomplished them. Not anymore. And I guess that's the crux of my wandering aimlessly throughout the year, not getting much accomplished both in my personal and professional life. I must admit that I'm still wary of working on a list of resolutions because I'm extremely driven and not meeting my goals can hit me quite hard. However, I've been thinking that perhaps I could start with 2 general resolutions: 1) Get healthy That includes taking all my vitamins (all 10 pills) and doing my workout routine - yoga and/or walking - and meditation sessions. 2) Slowly learn to live in the now, and work on accepting those things I can't change. In the past two years I have learned that "life happens", and I can't always reach my goals or make my New Year's resolutions come true. But perhaps with more general goals, I might be able to shake out the blues. So about you all? Did you make a list of resolutions for 2009? Labels: chitchat |

Glad that sucky 2008 is over for you, Tempest, and that 2009 is full of good health, happiness and mucho success.
I think I just might print out my resolutions too, to keep that visual reminder instead of forgetting them by Jan 2nd :)
May you enjoy good health this new year, TK. It is by far the greatest blessing of all.
I have one resolution its to go to the movies with my daughter once a month to see a movie of our choice
Well, you know my 2008 was as sucky as yours and maybe even suckier, sugar. LOL. Wait. Is suckier a word?
:P
But I do have a few goals in mind for this year. Health and prosperity top the list. :)
Wishing you the very best this year and the next, my moonsister.
Cass
I tend to welch on resolutions, so I create goals in hopes to have something positive to aim for. My goals for 2009 are still in the works, but with my first baby on the way, I have a feeling my focus will be veered from writing for a bit.
I hope to find a good balance between work and family. More than anything, I hope to be a good mother. :)
I'm sorry 2008 sucked, it seems to have been a sucky year in general. Hope you have a healthy and happy 2009. My goals were all about getting healthy, writing more, reading more (and going to RT in Orlando). :)
Seriously, Tempest seems like everyone had a sucky year I talk to. 2009 has to be so much better. I have a list of goals including walking more and getting more good acting work. I'm going to look at them daily so I can keep on track.
Shelly, Wylie and Bernard - Thanks! *hugs*
BethRe - That's an awesome one! *wg*
Isabelle - Hehehe! I know what you mean. I suck at New Year's resolutions too. Never been able to stick to 'em!
Ann - Oh, I wish I could go to the RT convention this year. It's the closest it has to be Puerto Rico. But with the economy as it is, I'm afraid to spend that much $$$.
Shell - Yeah, so I've noticed. *sighs* I really hope 2009 is better. I mean, can it get any worse?
